Bango chief executive  Ray Anderson said: " As the mobile web experience has matured and improved, consumers are increasingly keen to purchase digital goods on mobile devices. By ensuring a frictionless payment experience, Bango technology is unlocking the business potential of the mobile web."

The partnership between Bango and Facebook was first announced in February 2012, but the integration went live on 24 September 2012.

Earlier this year Douglas Purdy, director of product management at Facebook, announced on the Facebook Developer blog that the company was taking steps to “streamline the payments flow”, by working in partnership with US, UK and German mobile operators such as, AT&T, Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Telefónica, T-Mobile USA, Verizon, Vodafone, KDDI and SOFTBANK MOBILE Corp, to provide web carrier billing.

According to a study carried out by  mobile  payment services provider  mopay, this relatively new payment method is proving satisfying for users, as 55% of returning consumers completed more than five purchases using direct carrier billing last year.
