Google is to add an offer-saving function to
its mobile wallet.

A feature called Save to Wallet will enable
Google Wallet users to save online offers to their wallets and
redeem them in stores.

Google said it aims to streamline and bridge
the divide between the web offer and in-store redemption.

This would make it easier for consumers to
redeem mobile-based offers by either showing or scanning the
discount on smartphone screen at the point-of-sale, or by tapping
the phone at a NFC terminal at check-out.

To redeem offers, consumers will need to scan
a QR code with their mobile handsets.

Although Google Wallet’s tap-to-pay feature is
available only on five NFC-enabled mobile phone models, Google says
offers can also be redeemed through the Google Wallet app from
phones that do not have NFC capabilities.
