Visa Europe has launched its Mobile
Person-to-Person payments application, which enables users to
transfer funds to other Visa cardholders in Europe from their
mobile phone.
At the same time, the network announced
another new service – Visa Alerts – which notifies cardholders
whenever a purchase has been made using their card.

The launch of the two services follows closely
Visa Europe’s deployment of the
contactless pilot in Strasbourg.
Peter Ayliffe, CEO of Visa Europe said: “This
launch is the first in a series of new products and services that
Visa Europe will be launching in the coming months. We will soon
see the arrival of mainstream NFC technologies, advanced loyalty
and e-commerce services, and ultimately, the launch of a new
digital wallet.”
Both services will be available to Visa
Europe’s member banks in October 2011.
