First Global Data, a Canadian financial services technology firm, has partnered with payment company ImpalaPay to deploy its mobile wallet solution in Kenya as well as in 18 other African nations.
Under the partnership, the two companies will white label the First Global mobile wallet and cross border compliance platforms for a fintech ecosystem and marketplace with domestic and cross border payment and remittance services.
According to First Global, ImpalaPay has access to nearly seven national payment switches in Africa, and is in partnership with Airtel Africa to access the customer base of more than 76 million.
The company is also in a agreement with UBA Bank, which provides licensing in 19 countries and to around 17 million customers.
First Global CEO chairman Andre Itwaru said: “This is a very important strategic relationship for First Global as we continue our strategy of global domestic deployments tied together through the First Global compliance hub to form the world’s first portable, interoperable mobile payment service.”
