Paytm, an Indian digital wallet and payment service, has introduced Inbox, a messaging service which allows users to chat, send and request money to friends and family.

The messenger also enables users to send photos and videos instantly, share live location, besides allowing them to recall the messages using ‘Delete for All’.

Paytm Inbox features notifications, orders and games apart from the messaging service.

The new feature will be initially available for Android users and subsequently to iOS customers.

The update comes immediately after WhatsApp revealed its plans to launch peer-to-peer payment service for Indian customers by the end of 2017.

Paytm senior vice president Deepak Abbot said: “We have realised that besides making payments, our users and merchants also like to communicate with each other. There is a need of social messaging, commerce and payments seamlessly blending into one another.
