Alipay, a Chinese payments platform operated by Ant Financial Services Group, has collaborated with Israel Credit Card (ICC, CAL) and OneBill to launch service in Israel.
The collaboration will allow retailers in Israel to accept instore payments through Alipay mobile wallet from Chinese tourists visiting Israel.
Israeli jewellery chain store Diamond Mines has already started accepting Alipay payments from last week.
In the coming days, the wallet will also be supported by National Airline El-Al and James Richardson Duty Free chain stores.
Israel is the first country in the Middle East to support the Alipay wallet.
Alipay head of EMEA Li Wang said: “Chinese travellers are seeking to travel and pay with only their mobile phone when they are abroad – just as they do when they are in China. So we are excited to see our partners bringing Alipay to the Middle East for Israeli experiences, local shops and in-flight payments.”

In the recent times, Alipay has been rapidly expanding its presence across the globe. In September 2017, it teamed up with fintech firm SnapPay to expand its presence in Canada, as well as expanded its partner base in the Nordic region.
Prior to that, it also partnered with mobile payment firm Zapper to foray into South Africa.
