Global payments firm Western Union has launched its digital money transfer services in Panama and Jamaica.
The move marks the company’s first digital rollout in the Latin America and Caribbean region.
Western Union Global Money Transfer president Odilon Almeida added: “Western Union’s vision is to connect our online presence with our offline network to create an omnichannel offering that connects nearly every country in the world and is uniquely able to serve a large global customer base.”
Using debit or credit cards, iOS and Android users in Panama can make transactions through the Western Union mobile app. Users in this country will also be allowed to make cash payments at agent locations after making the transaction through the mobile app.
In Jamaica, the payments firm has collaborated with GraceKennedy Money Services to launch Westernunion.com/jm.
Customers in this country can make online transactions through debit or credit cards. They can also opt to make transactions on the Western Union mobile app and later pay in cash at agent locations.
