Imagus, a developer of facial recognition technology, and payment solutions Payonyx have collaborated to jointly develop a facial recognition payment authentication service.
The service will enable consumers to make purchases and withdraw cash simply taking a selfie.
The service will club Imagus’ facial recognition technology with Paynoyx’s payments knowledge, including its experience with payment gateways and 3D secure authentication systems.
The service, which has been designed for e-commerce, m-commerce, POS and ATM transactions, will be offered to banks, schemes, networks, payment processors, merchants and other partners.
Imagus CEO Glen Thomas said: "Imagus technology has predominately been designed for uses such as access control and border security, and to now have a partner to help extend Imagus’ technology into the payment security space is a very exciting evolution for Imagus’ range of products."
Payonyx CEO Daryn Griggs said: "This partnership will provide a service, which will allow consumer’s to pay for products by simply having their picture taken. This will be far more convenient and secure than remembering passwords or PIN numbers and is a natural extension to payment security."
