German payment services firm Wirecard has teamed up with local furniture retailer Segmüller to enable the latter support mobile payments.
Under the agreement, Wirecard will provide a mobile payment solution that will allow the retailer’s customers to make invoice payments using their mobile devices or credit cards.

Wirecard will offer the digital payment technology for the initiative.
At the same time, the payments firm will be responsible for managing payments processing.
The mobile payment solution includes an app with an mPOS device that works alongside mobile devices like tablets and smartphones.
The app will enable the retailer to accept digital payments at a customer’s front door.
To purchase a good, customers can initially pay a deposit in store and pay the balance after receiving the delivery.
Wirecard executive vice president sales consumer goods Christian Reindl said: “We are pleased to be able to support Segmüller in digitising their payment processes and thus increasing customer satisfaction.
“With the development of our payment app, we have actively responded to the trend that consumers want an increasingly seamless payment experience – the mobile payment solution is optimally tailored to the delivery model.”
Segmüller branches are located in Frankfurt, Mannheim, Nuremberg, Stuttgart, Weiterstadt, Friedberg, Parsdorf near Munich and Pulheim near Cologne.
