Wirecard has agreed to offer e-commerce payment solutions to German online supermarket getnow, which is also a contractual partner of wholesaler METRO.
As part of the partnership, Wirecard will provide getnow customers with a range of digital payment options and also process all the transactions.
Groceries ordered on getnow platform are purchased from METRO and delivered to the customers.
getnow CTO Sebastian Wiese said: “With our platform, we offer a new shopping experience that attracts an increasing number of customers.
“We know the major role payment plays when it comes to online shopping, and with Wirecard we have found a partner who understands our vision and helps us offer a fully digital and uncomplicated shopping experience.”
Wirecard portfolio includes more than 200 local and global payment solutions for secure payment processing and an optimal checkout. The payment service provider works across a variety of sales channels.

Statistics show that online grocery purchases are increasing four times faster than offline grocery purchases. For 47% of consumers, convenience, including payment-related processes is the primary reason to purchase groceries online.
