Amazon has pulled the plug on its mobile wallet app, 6 months after its beta release.
The huge internet retailer will remove the app from app stores on Wednesday following a disappointing uptake by consumers. Users can still use gift, loyalty and membership cards stored on the app. However, wallet balances will no longer be updated, leaving users to track their own balances.
Tom Cook, an Amazon spokesman, said: "We have learned a great deal from the introduction of the Wallet and will look for ways to apply these lessons in the future as we continue to innovate on behalf of our customers"
Amazon did not address whether or not Amazon Wallet would return.
