InComm, a US-based prepaid product and transaction services company, has expanded its agreement with Target Australia to offer gift cards in stores and online.

The agreement will allow the companies to expand their partnership from offering gift cards at Target's online gift card store to introduce POS technology in all 306 Target stores in the country.

In 2015, InComm started offering services for Wesfarmers Group, of which Target is a member, and provided gift and prepaid cards on Target.com.au.

The latest collaboration will also include deployment of InComm's POSA (point-of-sale-activated) technology that enables retailers to activate prepaid cards at the POS with a reduced risk of theft and shrinkage.

Through the POSA technology, card issuers will also have the opportunity to leverage card design in marketing the cards.

InComm International executive vice president and general manager Frank Monaco said: “We had already launched the first Australian retailer online gift card store, and we look forward to driving real growth for Target as they embark on their new retail in-store strategy.
