JCB International (JCBI), the international operations unit of Japanese credit card issuer and acquirer JCB, has partnered with the International Bank of Azerbaijan (IBA) to launch JCB merchant acquiring operations in the country.
The move will enable JCB cards to be accepted at the bank’s all acceptance locations across Azerbaijan by the end of this month.
IBA is the largest government financial provider in Azerbaijan, comprising a network of over 11,000 POS terminals and over 730 ATMs throughout the country.
JCBI deputy president Kimihisa Imada said: "It’s honored to announce the launch of JCB Cards acquiring business in Azerbaijan, the country is located at the center of Western Asia and Eastern Europe, the region where JCB business expansion has been very rapid in the past few years.
"I am confident that partnership with IBA will allow JCB to bring more convenience and benefits to JCB cardmembers and will contribute to the growth and development of the payments industry in Azerbaijan."
