Diebold Nixdorf has unveiled its new ATM concept, Essence, which incorporates a sleek, modern design and user interface to enhance consumer experience.

Essence, powered by software-driven interactions, also features multi-touch functionalities, such as swipe, scroll and smart zoom, similar to those found in smartphones and tablets.

The Essence Concept includes an antimicrobial glass touchscreen display and enhanced user interface, an encrypted touchscreen for PIN entry and NFC authentication option and an EMV chip card reader.

Diebold Nixdorf said that it has eliminated the traditional magnetic stripe card reader, receipt printer and PIN pad, which helped the Essence concept to meet the requirements of busy, technology-savvy consumers.

Diebold Nixdorf vice president for design and new technology incubation Richard Harris said: “Our latest concept delivers the future of consumer transactions by reimagining what the self-service channel looks like.

“Diebold Nixdorf is uniquely positioned to connect physical and digital channels and guide financial institutions and retailers into the future of connected commerce."
