SIX Payment Services, a Swiss and Austrian acquirer and provider of the mPOS solution mCashier, has reached an agreement with WIR Bank to support its launch of a new payment card known as WIRcard plus for SMEs.

Business clients of WIR Bank will get the benefit from the combination of the existing functions of the proprietary WIRcard coupled with a V PAY debit card that is accepted globally.

At the end of 2016, WIR Bank rolled out WIRcard plus in association with SIX. The card was exclusively designed for Swiss SME clients.

Equipped with the new generation of integrated chips, the WIRcard plus offers business customers with the same flexibility as they are used to from their private card.

The technical processing of the WIRcard transactions is being handled by the bank itself while SIX is offering payment infrastructure to process V PAY transactions. In all transactions, a PIN is used for authorisation.

Users of WIRcard plus can pay at nearly 10,000 WIR acceptance points in Switzerland; however, the card can be used across the globe through the V PAY network.
