Shell Oil Company, the US-based subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell, has announced that it is nearing completion of Indoor EMV deployment with over 11,000 of its sites fully Indoor EMV operational.
Nearly 80% of the Shell-branded retail network is now completely Indoor EMV compliant while the remainder is expected to complete by spring 2017.
Upon completion of Indoor EMV deployment, Shell will focus on delivering Outdoor EMV on its network.
The company aims to ensure that all Shell-branded sites are EMV hardware and software ready prior to the October 2020 liability shift date.
At present, development of the Outdoor EMV software solution is under progress with a pilot planned for late 2017.
Craig Schneider, vice president and general manager marketing for Shell Americas Fuel Sales and Marketing, said: “The Vantage platform has afforded sites faster and easier deployment of Indoor EMV software while significantly minimizing site downtime and eliminating the need for a technician's visit.
