Turkey-based Interbank Card Center (BKM) has enabled Host Card Emulation (HCE) mobile contactless payment solution for the users of its TROY card in the country.
Currently, the firm is offering the contactless payment solution to users of NFC-enabled Android and contactless POS devices, with plans to extend for additional devices.
The move to provide the new solution follows BKM’s Online Payments Report, which revealed that mobile payment constitutes approximately 30% of the country’s online retail payments.
BKM executive vice-president Cenk Temiz said: “TROY is poised to leverage this dynamism in the market in order to drive the innovation in the Turkish payments market and become benchmark for other national payments scheme.
“Therefore we established TROY Innovation Center and we are proud to launch mobile contactless solution as the first product of TROY Innovation Center.”
Launched in May 2017, over two million TROY branded cards are said to in circulation and customers have made 12 million transactions through them last year.
