MagTek has added support for EMV chip card-present payments on its mobile payment app QwickPAY.

QwickPAY is a fully integrated payment acceptance service for mobile and PC point-of-sale (POS).

The update will allow merchants to build on MagTek’s payment application certification (L3) with EMV system compliance processors and use QwickPAY for acceptance of magstripe payments.

MagTek obtained the EMV certification from First Data Merchant Services (FDC) Nashville/North, TSYS and Worldpay. The firm also expects to secure Chase and Elavon certification over the coming months.

MagTek general manager and vice-president of retail solutions John Arato said: “We are excited to offer EMV chip card capability with QwickPAY. It gives our resellers and distributors a great value-add in a really easy format to onboard. Their customers can be up and running in a matter of days instead of weeks.”

Currently, QwickPAY can be used with MagTek’s eDynamo or DynaPro devices for card-present payments, including both magnetic stripe and EMV transactions, on mobile or virtual terminals.

MagTek plans to include other EMV card readers in the fourth quarter of this year.

The company provides card readers, check scanners, PIN pads and distributed credential issuing systems to various organisations such as financial institutions, retailers, hotels and law enforcement agencies.

Its portfolio also includes MagneSafe products that leverage encryption, tokenisation, real-time authentication and dynamic payment card data to verify credentials used for payment processing and electronic transactions.
