Payment service provider DPO Group has launched a business to business (B2B) virtual and prepaid payment card in Africa.
Dubbed DumaCard, the new offering gives businesses in Africa access to new markets by enabling online payments regionally and internationally.
The merchants who opt for the virtual card will get a 16-digit card number, expiry date and security code linked to their DPO payments system.
Initially, the card will be available to DPO’s 10,000 business customers in Kenya and Tanzania.
DPO Group intends to roll out the B2B payment card across the 14 more countries in which it has operations.
DPO Group CEO Eran Feinstein said: “This is an extremely exciting development particularly for businesses in Africa – the growth of which is critical to economic development.

By GlobalData“Our goal is to support the growth of businesses throughout Africa by allowing them to pay and be paid securely and effortlessly throughout the continent and internationally, ensuring that more organisations in Africa are financially included and have the same opportunity to transact online as elsewhere in the world. The DumaCard is another of our innovations enabling this.”
The company, which holds PCI DSS Level 1 Certification in all 16 markets in which it operates, claims that it has developed sophisticated, end-to-end fraud prevention and risk management systems.
The launch follows DPO’s partnership with Mastercard, which allowed the African payment firm to issue physical and virtual cards in collaboration with banks.
Mastercard, last year, also enabled DPO Group to act as a Pan-African switch via Mastercard Payments Gateway Services, (MPGS).
