Judging by its latest moves, it was only a
matter of time and now PayPal has indeed launched an in-store
payments service in the UK.
The service does not require NFC connection.
Instead, consumers will need to download the PayPal app and enter a
PIN each time they want to make a purchase. The app subsequently
generates a barcode which will be scanned at the POS and enable the
consumer’s PayPal account to be debited.
The service is compatible with the Android
platform and Apple’s iOS.
High street fashion conglomerate Aurora
Fashions Group, which owns Coast, Oasis, warehouse and Karen
Millen, already accept the service, but a wider distribution will
soon follow.
