Pizza hut restaurants in the US are deploying fingerprint
biometrics in a bid to reduce employee theft.

Rage Inc, a Pizza Hut franchise, has installed the
DigitalPersona ‘U.are.U’ fingerprint biometrics technology in 118
outlets as part of their Speedline point-of-sale (POS) systems.

The move stems from growing concerns over employee
accountability.

“DigitalPersona ‘U.are.U’ Fingerprint Readers have provided us
with a fast and simple way to reduce inventory shrink and eliminate
payroll fraud,” said David Logsdon, director of MIS at Rage,
Inc.

The new system will eliminate previous practice of using ID
codes, which in turn is hoped to reduce unauthorised discounts and
decreased payroll fraud.
