Norwegian biometric technology firm Zwipe has teamed up with Brazilian card manufacturer Thomas Greg & Sons do Brasil (TGS) to launch biometric payment cards.
Under the arrangement, TGS will use Zwipe’s technology platform to commercially launch its biometric payment card and related platforms.
TGS payment card platform and Zwipe’s technology integrate together to develop the card.
The companies’ first joint offering is expected to be released this year. The partners also acknowledged that they are in talks with multiple Brazilian banks to test the solution.
TGS president Hernani Finazzi said: “We are excited to partner with Zwipe and leverage their industry leading expertise and intellectual property to be a first mover in Brasil with a product we believe has a strong value proposition to our customers, some of the region’s most established and fasted growing issuers.”
Zwipe CEO André Løvestam said: “We are proud to partner with a leading and innovative first mover like TGS and looking forward to collaborating on new opportunities in Latin America and beyond.”
Last week, Zwipe joined forces with TAG Systems Group to launch a commercial biometric payment card offering.
Zwipe selected Fingerprint’s T-shaped sensor for the latest version of its biometric payment card in March this year.
TGS provides technology solutions, prints security documents and identification services in Brazil. It produced 55 million cards in 2018.
