La Banque Postale has signed an agreement with Discover Global Network, the payments brand of Discover. The partnership allows Discover, Diners Club International and alliance network cardholders to make purchases at La Banque Postale’s merchant clients.
In addition cardholders can withdraw cash from the La Banque Postale ATM network.
As a result of the deal, La Banque Postale merchant clients the possibility can capture spend from additional international clients. And the relationship meets a demand from foreign tourists, who wish to pay using their card in shops they visit.
“This agreement is a great opportunity for La Banque Postale’s merchant clients, as well as for the international tourists. They will be able to use their cards without further actions required on their respective parts,” says Régis Folbaum, Payments Director, La Banque Postale Group.
Amy Parsons, senior VP global acceptance, Discover adds: “For cardholders France is an important country for business travel and holidays.
“That is why partnerships with acquirers such as La Banque Postale are so important. Discover cardholders can use their cards more seamlessly when travelling.”

La Banque Postale rolls out Ma French Bank
Part of the La Poste Group, La Banque Postale serves 10.8 million active retail banking customers. Until 2006, La Poste’s financial services business was mainly focused on savings. Since then, LBP has developed its product range to become a bank with a full range of services. It has also expanded its range of services through partnerships and acquisitions.
Meantime, La Banque Postale is launching ‘Ma French Bank’, a digital subsidiary built on the mobile phone.
LBP is aiming to diversify its services and at the same time attract younger customers. The digital sub-brand Ma French Bank aims to offer all transactions via its app. Customers will however be charged €2 a month to hold an account.
