US-based payments provider Blackhawk Network has wrapped up its acquisition of North American card and prepaid technology firm National Gift Card (NGC).

Blackhawk will be able to bolster its prepaid and gift card offerings with this takeover. The company will be also integrate NGC’s fulfilment capabilities into its operations.

As part of the deal, Blackhawk’s digital incentive solutions and expanded catalog of brands and original content will be extended to NGC’s customers.

Blackhawk Network CEO and president Talbott Roche said: “We are excited to welcome NGC to the Blackhawk family to further enhance our incentive solutions and strengthen our end to end programme management solutions.

“With this acquisition, Blackhawk now offers full issuance programme management, fulfilment, global retail and business to business distribution, and is the global single source for leading, reward-based incentive programmes large or small.”

NGC CEO Adam Van Witzenburg added: “Blackhawk has long been a leader in the gift card and incentives industry and has been a long-standing partner of NGC.

“Together, we drove almost $3 billion in gift cards and prepaid products for loyalty, rewards, and employee recognition programmes in 2019 alone. Now, as an official part of the Blackhawk team, we can expand upon the continued growth of NGC, Blackhawk and the prepaid industry overall and are excited to drive further value for both NGC’s and Blackhawk’s clients.”

Earlier this year, Blackhawk Network completed the acquisition of SVM Cards, a physical and digital gift card and prepaid card provider. Financial terms of the deal were not shared.
