Digital River, a global e-commerce services
provider, has developed a new e-commerce solution that will be able
to capture in excess of 6,000 orders per second on a global
basis.

Digital River said the new solution is ideal
for managing the increased order demands associated with
anticipated merchandising events and preorder sales, which can
often result in system unavailability, frustration, and an
inability to place orders.

CEO of Digital River, Joel Ronning, said, “We
have worked closely with our clients to deliver a solution that
significantly upgrades the online order process and end-user
experience”

The new e-commerce solution will place online
shoppers in a virtual checkout line that captures their order, so
that the online order process for on-demand software and consumer
electronic products can be regulated.

Once the order is received the system will
process its purchase and payment on a first-come first-serve basis,
on completion of which a notification – and if required a digital
license key – is sent to the consumer.
