Paris-based provider of mobile money
solutions, Creova, has launched a m-payment service in Tunisia.

The project is called Mdinar and Creova
claimed it is the first P2P m-wallet service in North Africa.

Mobile phone and m-wallet top-up are also
possible.

The services can be accessed via SMS,
Smartphone apps and online, and its technology is 17 times faster
than standard Java servers, requiring one-eighth of the memory, the
company said. 

CEO of Creova, Ramzi El-Fekih, said the
goal was to achieve “a preferred position among early adopters and
then integrate additional applications according to the needs of
their customers”.

For the deployment of Mdinar, Creova will
partner with Viamobile, Banque Internationale Arabe de Tunisie
(BIAT), Carrefour Tunisia and ENDA Inter-Arabe.

The head of marketing at BIAT, Moez Khediri said the service
would be best suited to young consumers and the unbanked.
