Children’s e-commerce service Virtual Piggy has partnered with Merchant acquirer WorldPay with the aim of expanding its ecommerce service internationally.
Virtual Piggy provides under-21s with online purchasing; saving and other money management services, allowing parents to set up a monthly allowance and define the boundaries. The company claims that it enables children to spend and manage money in a parent-controlled online environment.
Designed to support transactions in over 100 countries, Virtual Piggy hopes that this partnership with one the worlds largest merchant acquirers will help to expand its global reach.
Phillip McGriskin, WorldPay chief product officer, said, "The e-commerce landscape is increasingly cross-border as consumers become accustomed to purchasing from merchants abroad. One of our strengths is providing merchants with the ability to process alternative payment types in multiple geographies."
"The under eighteen market represents the future of online shoppers and this group is increasingly willing to embrace the cross-border trend. The partnership with WorldPay and Virtual Piggy enables merchants to serve this market in a COPPA compliant way and maximize the revenue generating potential this offers."
In November of this year, Virtual Piggy announced that it has integrated with PayPal, through PayPal Access.
