Digital security firm Gemalto and Cairo Amman Bank (CAB) have teamed up to introduce the first EMV instant issuance services to Jordan.

The Dexxis Instant Issuance services will be available in all 105 CAB braches across the country allowing customers to have EMV banking cards issued to them on the spot.

Customers will securely be able to acquire new or replacement cards within minutes.

"The solution enables small batch production at branches to accommodate changes in demand for EMV cards, especially in markets where we do not have a central issuance system. It enables our customers to securely choose their own PIN code, which adds a personal touch to the service," said Khalid Al Qassem, Deputy General Manager for CAB.

It is hoped that the new system will help keep up to 70% of costs associated with card fulfilment down via replacing the need for post and separate PIN mailing.

The new system adheres to the most recent PCI-DSS security standards, ensuring robust end-to-end encryption of personal data held within bank branches.

Eric Claudel, President of Africa and the Middle East for Gemalto also pointed to benefits to customer service.

"The solution also offers CAB more opportunities for face-to-face contact with its customers, to hear first-hand their needs and preferences, and promote new services tailored to individual requirements."
