Spanish bank La Caxia will roll out a mobile contactless payment service in Barcelona, using TAP Visa stickers which attach to mobile devices.
The TAP sticker features an EMV chip that contains the data required to complete transactions and allows customers make payments by tapping their phone against a contactless enabled terminal. Purchases over EUR20 (USD26) will require a PIN.

The system will begin its roll out in December, with 5,000 customers given stickers. The bank says that this will be extended through January and hopes to reach 200,000 users by February.
There are more than 50,000 retailers in Spain with contactless terminals and La Caxia says that since the contactless system was launched in Barcelona in January 2012 more than one million transactions have been completed.
In October, Visa and RBS revealed that they would be offering a TouchPay to UK customers. This contactless mobile payment service functioned using a cover an iPhone.
