Global transaction tech company NCR has launched 24 hour branch banking in Southeast Asia with interactive ATMs.

Customers of banks using the new technology will be able to carry out 95% of branch transactions with the video assistance of a live remote teller.

Stelios Frankos, vice president of global sales at NCR, said: "NCR APTRA Interactive Teller is a solution to the challenges around expansion and provision of banking services to the unbanked populations in rural areas, helping banks to augment their branch footprint, deliver teller services to under-served areas and provide their branch promises."

NCR has claimed the use of the new ATMs reduce transaction time by 33% the cost of each transaction by 40% compared to traditional branch transactions.

Bob Tramontano, vice president and general manager at NCR, said: "At NCR, we understand that rethinking a bank’s retail network strategy may seem like a massive step, which is why our solutions let banks adopt an incremental approach that increases branch efficiency, improves the customer experience and maximises the profitability of the branch network."
