Square and Whole Foods Market are partnering up to offer new payment solutions across the retailer’s US stores.
Customers will be able to make payments at food venues within Whole Food stores using Register and Square Stand, Square’s software and hardware aimed at businesses.
The food venues include juice and coffee bars and pizzerias. A different payment option will mean customers will be able to avoid the queue, improving store efficiency and customer experience.
"Together with Square, we’ll deliver options to expedite checkouts, and we look forward to developing new concepts to further simplify and improve grocery shopping," said Walter Robb, co-CEO of Whole Foods Market.
Seven Whole Foods stores already use Square Stand including the Austin, New York City and Fan Francisco Bay Area branches. This new move will allow Square services to be used more widely.
Whole Foods has also announced its intention to start using Square Wallet. New innovations will be tested in a small selection of stores before being rolled out across the chain.
