Iran is the 518th largest economy in the world with a GDP of $692bn. Iran’s GDP has grown by 46% between 2010 and 2021 and is expected to grow by 23% by 2025.
As of 2016 there were 4.3 million students in tertiary education in Iran, with 5.7 million students in secondary and 8.2 million in primary education. Iran spent 5% of its GDP on education in 2019.
Iran ranked 127th in the World Bank’s Doing Business Report (2020). In the 2019 report it finished 128th. In the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report (2019), Iran finished 99th, after ranking 99th in 2018.
Public healthcare expenditure totalled $26.8bn and private healthcare expenditure equalled $20.5bn in 2018.
