Myanmar is the 196th largest economy in the world with a GDP of $74bn.

As of 2017 there were 771,321 students in tertiary education in Myanmar, with 4 million students in secondary and 5.4 million in primary education. Myanmar spent 2.1% of its GDP on education in 2019.

Myanmar ranked 165th in the World Bank’s Doing Business Report (2020). In the 2019 report it finished 171st. In the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report (2015), Myanmar finished 131st, after ranking 131st in 2014.

Public healthcare expenditure totalled $794m and private healthcare expenditure equalled $2.9bn in 2018.
