ABA Bank of Cambodia has partnered with UnionPay International, a subsidiary of China UnionPay, for the joint issuance of UnionPay chip debit card in Cambodia.
The chip card that can be used on UnionPay’s worldwide acceptance network will be launched in the first quarter of next year.

Cambodian residents with UnionPay cards that are accepted by 60% of ATMs and 80% of POS terminals in Cambodia will also be able to use their cards conveniently in the frequently visited tourist destinations including the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam and Laos.
Shi Wenchao, president of China UnionPay, said: "UnionPay attaches great importance to the Southeast Asian market and Cambodia is one of the most important markets.
"As China and Cambodia witness closers relationships in trade and personnel exchanges, major financial institutions and local merchants have proactively carried out UnionPay card business to improve their services."
