Affirm and Shopify have expedited their global expansion drive, starting from Canada.
In a statement, Affirm said that Shopify merchants in Canada with early access can start providing Shop Pay Installments.

This marks the first international launch of the buy now, pay later proposition beyond the US.
The offering, powered by Affirm, will be available in general access to all Shopify merchants in Canada and the UK this summer.
Following this, cross-border commerce capabilities will be introduced between the US, Canada, and the UK.
Plans are in place to extend the offering to Australia and Western Europe, starting with France, Germany, and the Netherlands.
Affirm aims to work closely with local stakeholders—shoppers, merchants, capital partners, and regulators as part of its global expansion plans.
Merchants can activate the payment option directly from their Shopify admin dashboard without the need for additional technical integration.
Customers, in turn, can apply to split eligible purchases into biweekly or monthly payments, with the possibility of 0% APR and no late or hidden fees.
Since its inception in 2021, Shop Pay Instalments has been available to consumers across Shopify’s US merchant network.

In February, Affirm expanded its global agreement with Shopify, becoming the exclusive pay-over-time provider of Shop Pay Instalments in both the US and Canada.
