Ingenico ePayments, the online and mobile commerce division of Ingenico Group, has reached an agreement with Chinese flag carrier Air China to offer airline the capability to accept Discover card payments in North America.
The agreement will enable the Chinese airline to accept all cards on the Discover Global Network, via Discover Global Network’s strategic alliance agreements with issuers from around the world.
Ingenico already processes a number of cards and alternative payment products for Air China, and the addition of Discover Global Network acceptance will further boost payment options for Air China’s customers.
Air China, which already accepts Diners Club cards as a payment option for Japanese consumers, has decided to add Discover Card acceptance to better serve the North America market.
The airline has plans to further expand the acceptance of Discover and Diners Club cards to more countries later this year.
Ingenico ePayments general manager of Asia Pacific Nick Tubb said: “As payment partner for Air China, we noticed a steady increase in payments originating from North America – one of their key markets.
