American Express and Amazon have introduced a reward-based co-branded credit card for small businesses in the US.

The Amazon Business American Express Card features zero credit card fees and offers enhanced visibility into each transaction.

The new card enables businesses to decide their best financing approach – rewards or payment term, purchase by purchase.

For Amazon Prime members, the card offers 5% back or 90-day payment terms on Amazon Business, Amazon.com, Amazon Web Services and Whole Foods Market purchases in the US.

Card members who do not hold a Prime membership will get 3% back or 60-day payment terms for such purchases.

Additional benefits on the Amazon Business American Express Card include 2% back on transactions made at restaurants, gas stations and certain wireless telephone services.

Customers are also eligible for 1% back on other eligible purchases. They will also get access to line-item details on Amazon Business purchases.

Customers can use the earned rewards for shopping on Amazon Business and Amazon.com. Furthermore, it can be applied for a purchase on the customer’s statement.

In addition, American Express is offering no fee employee cards and access to Spend Manager as well as Connect to Quickbooks, among others.

Businesses using the Amazon Business American Express Card also get Amazon Business benefits. These include pricing discounts and functionality to approve or reject any orders by their employees.

Amazon Business Payment Products global head Samant Nagpal said: “The card empowers small businesses to make flexible choices. Also streamline everyday buying decisions, and have increased visibility into their business purchases.”
