American Express has introduced a co-branded card in partnership with online travel firm MakeMyTrip.

The new card offers benefits such as a INR9,000 ($146.2) welcome voucher and also a 2.5% fuel surcharge waiver at Hindustan Petroleum outlets.

The card allows customers the flexibility to spread their payments into easy instalments over a period of time, at attractive interest rates.

Manoj Adlakha, CEO of American Express Banking Corp India, said: "The bank will be charging 3.5% interest per month on purchases or 42% per annum. A joining fee of INR750 ($12.2) which will go up to INR1,500 ($24.3) per annum from second year will also be charged."

"While Makemytrip will offer a welcome bonus of INR9,000 ($146.2), which will be in nine instalments of INR1,000 ($16.2) each per month depending on the transaction, a 5% cash back on ticket and hotel bookings through its website will also be given."
