American Express (Amex) has upgraded its platinum card with additional benefits for both new and existing card members.

Starting 30 March 2017, Amex Platinum card members will get up to $200 in Uber credits per year and automatic VIP status on Uber rides in select cities.

The newly sleek designed travel credit card also offers 5X membership rewards points for eligible hotels booked on amextravel.com, among other benefits.

The new members will have to pay $550 as annual fee for the card against previous $450; however, the fee from existing cardholders will charged starting 1 September 2017.

Additionally, the new platinum card members will receive a 60,000-point sign-up bonus when they spend $5,000 in the first three months.

American Express senior vice president and general manager of global charge products, benefits and services Janey Whiteside said: “We’re excited about the response we’ve already seen from our card members about the new Platinum Card benefits and services, and can’t wait to give them the opportunity to experience them first-hand starting today.
