American Express (Amex) has rolled out its enhanced Business Travel Account (BTA) to provide companies better control and more visibility into their business travel expenses.
The BTA features virtual account which works with the existing booking processes of travel management companies through support from virtual service provider Conferma. It allows for booking of hotels and low-cost airlines.
Amex said that the virtual account centralises more types of business travel spending into a single account.
The enhanced BTA also offers the flexibility to set usage dates and pre-authorise spending limits at the time of booking, enabling companies to reduce fraud and encourage compliance with company travel policies.
Additionally, it gives improved traveller experience by providing options for more types of business travellers, including large groups, employees who do not have corporate cards and non-employees, such as job applicants and consultants.
American Express Global Commercial Payments vice president of global product management Gint Balodis said: “We understand that corporate travel is a major expense for many companies and can be a time consuming and difficult process to manage.
