Tech giant Apple has introduced its contactless payment service Apple Pay in Ukraine through the domestic lender PrivatBank.

The introduction of Apple Pay was announced by the Ukrainian Finance Minister on social networking sites.

It works when the user places his/her Apple iPhone or any other electronic device from Apple over a contactless payment terminal.

Before using it, the user is required to enter all the necessary details into the device.

In Ukraine, the customers who intend to use Apple Pay need to install or update the Privat24 app and open it in any apple device, reported kyivpost.com.

All Apple phone models older than iPhone 6 will not support this contactless payment service.

Earlier, PrivatBank introduced a similar service offered by Google called Android Pay.

Other banks in Ukraine are expected to introduce this service soon.

Nearly two weeks ago, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that the Apple Pay service will be available in Ukraine. However, he did not reveal other details including the launch date.

In the next phase, Apple Pay is expected to be introduced in Poland and Norway, two other European countries.

Since its launch in October 2014, Apple Pay has expanded to 27 countries.
