Banco Santander Uruguay, a subsidiary of Spanish group Banco Santander, has chosen Cryptomathic and ICPayment’s card issuance solution.
The card issuance platform will combine Cryptomathic’s EMV data preparation platform CardInk and ICPayments’ SPEC personalisation software.
CardInk has been designed to offer the secure and flexible platform needed for data generation and cryptographic key management during issuance, following which card data will be transferred to SPEC solution to facilitate personalisation.
The solution has the capacity to work in mixed modes, both central as well as instant issuance. This will allow the bank to personalise cards either at a centralised hub location or at a local site, in branch or on campus as per the requirements of customers and card programmes.
The solution will be primarily used to issue chip enabled VISA Advantis and MasterCard payment cards to customers.
In addition, it can personalise ID cards, based on MiFare technology, with photos and demographic information, thereby helping support the issuance of the bank’s multi-purpose University Cards for Uruguayan students and alumni.
Banco Santander Uruguay cards product manager Daniel Gordiola said: "It was critical that the platform enabled us to quickly and efficiently deliver new products to customers.
"We explored a number of different smart card personalisation solutions before selecting the joint platform from Cryptomathic and ICPayments, which can be easily scaled to support future business requirements."
