Bank Islam Malaysia has joined forces with Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) and Visa to introduce a co-branded debit card that is biodegradable, reported Malaysian national news agency Bernama.
The Bank Islam Visa Tabung Haji Debit Card-i reportedly contains “high-quality polyethylene terephthalate” that can be reused. Another unique trait of the card is its durability towards chemical substances such as alkaline.
TH customers will be able to link their account with the card and make fund transfers to their Bank Islam account.
Commenting on the new proposition, TH group managing director and CEO Nik Mohd Hasyudeen Yusoff said: “With this new service, TH depositors will be able to make transactions more conveniently, thank you to the Bank Islam team towards the commitment that you have shown through this initiative.”
In Saudi Aradia, the card will reportedly refrain from charging any fee for withdrawing cash during the haj pilgrimage,
The news agency further noted that the debit card will provide discounts on TH Travel & Services packages along with special fares on KLIA Express Services.
