Barclays Bank Tanzania (BBTL) has introduced its first VISA Platinum US Dollar Debit card.

The new card has been designed to help cardholders with current account in the bank gain access to their money in Tanzania and abroad.
Barclays retail director Kumaran Pather said that the new debit card ensures security by incorporating a chip and pin technology.
"When used locally to transact for goods either online, through Point of Sale or even withdrawals through ATMs, the card will operate in local currency. But all transactions done in the US will carry the USD denomination."
The card will also facilitate easy settlement of bills or purchases in supermarkets, hotels, clothes shops and fuel stations in Tanzania and abroad, as well as cash at ATMs in the US in the dollar denomination.
