Barclays Bank of Kenya has launched a mobile banking app, according to media reports.

BarclaysKenya app allows clients to view their balances and recent transactions, make transfers between accounts and pay bills. Additionally, customers can access their credit cards and loan transactions.

The app is available on Android and Apple devices to customers who have registered for Barclays Internet Banking.

Jeremy Awori, managing director at Barclays Bank of Kenya, said: "The Kenya mobile banking arena is also fast developing and shaping the landscape of cashless transactions exponentially and this App is aimed at ensuring that convenience is key when carrying out bank transactions through Internet banking service. Our customers will not have to queue for long hours so as to be served instead the click of a button will do the magic."

BarclaysKenya app follows the success of Barclays Pingit app which was launched in February 2012 in the UK.
