British banking giant Barclays is planning to create more than 200 jobs at its new fraud detection centre to be set up in Sunderland, UK.
The jobs will be a mixture of management, team leader and frontline call centre positions at the Sunderland site on Doxford International Business Park.
The new centre will deal with calls from Barclays’ customers across the world hit by bank account and credit card fraud.
Barclays Sunderland site president Christine Allenson said: "Fraud is dealt with at a number of locations, but we are bringing it all together under one roof to deliver a better experience for customers.
"The new opportunities are available for both existing and new to Barclays staff and we’re hugely excited to be able to offer a whole new range of career opportunities across the Sunderland site."
Sunderland City Council chief executive Dave Smith said: "The creation of at least 200 jobs, coming hot on the heels of the 100 positions created for video banking, is great news for the city’s economy."
