Bitcoin payment processor BitPay has launched a new Visa prepaid card, allowing both online and in-store purchases for its customers by converting bitcoin into dollars.

The BitPay Visa Prepaid Card can be purchased online using Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and loaded using Bitcoin (BTC) or BCH through the firm’s platform, BitPay mobile wallet app.

As the exchange rates, network fees and confirmation times of BTC and BCH vary, BitPay is offering an option to compare the two blockchains before making a payment.

The new prepaid card will be issued by Metropolitan Commercial Bank in the US and can be availed at all Visa-accepting terminals.

BitPay was founded in 2011 and focuses on providing optimised bitcoin payment experience. In addition, the firm offers bitcoin wallet for secure payments.

Last month, the firm introduced a new wallet, BRD (Bread) that is compatible with scanning Payment Protocol QR codes to avoid underpayments, overpayments, and refunds risk.

The wallet can be used to pay any of BitPay merchants for Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash and Ethereum.
