M-commerce solutions provider, Blaze Mobile
has developed a ‘smart’ sticker that enables contactless purchases
to be tranferred in real-time without the need of a carrier network
or WiFi.

Blaze Mobile claims the patent-pending solution can be used on
any mobile device and that the data transfer works both ways –
enabling the mobile handset to send information to smart sticker
and vice versa.

“We are excited about the potential of this
new smart sticker since it closely mimics the behaviour of NFC
embedded inside a cell phone,” said Blaze Mobile CEO Michelle
Fisher.

“More importantly, it dramatically increases
the number of potential NFC devices and encourages consumer
adoption of contactless payments.

“Manufactures of mobile hardware and software
have announced plans to introduce more near-field-communication
[NFC] devices in to the market, which we are excited about. Until
NFC handsets become commonplace, our payment stickers are a free
and easy solution for consumers and industry.”

Blaze’s latest offering improves upon its
original patent-pending sticker concept that it introduced in 2006.
The sticker, which is attached to the mobile handset, sends
transaction data in one direction to the POS terminal. The
information then travels to the payment network and then onto the
Blaze servers, where it delivers a digital receipt to the mobile
phone using over-the-air (OTA) technology via the carrier
network.
