Canadian fintech startup Stack has teamed up with Mastercard to roll out its digital money accounts with mobile tap-to-pay feature.

Stack said that its accounts will feature a chip-and-pin Mastercard-branded prepaid card, which has been designed to offer secure point-of-sale access to retailers and ATM networks across the globe.

Additionally, the card will provide purchase protection on every transaction.

Stack co-founder and CEO Miro Pavletic said: “Partnering with Mastercard supports our mission to provide a better alternative to traditional financial services, without compromising convenience or reliability.

“Mastercard is a trusted technology expert in the payments industry, and we’re committed to working with the best of the best.”

Mastercard vice president of market development in Canada Patrick Sulston said: “Canadians want to manage their money on their own terms and Stack is giving them that ability.

“With a Mastercard prepaid card inside the Stack app, Canadians can easily, securely and conveniently access their funds and shop in-store and online.”

The announcement by Stack comes just two weeks ahead of its official Beta launch, for which more than 20,000 Canadian users have registered.

Stack’s new app provides a smarter way to spend, save and share money, straight from smartphone. The app will provide access to multi-currency and crypto wallets as part of a 360-degree solution to personal finance.
