Global ATM services provider Cardtronics has acquired UK and Germany based Cardpoint.
Cardpoint trades as Cashzone in the UK and as Cardpoint in Germany. The deal will lead to Cashzone, Cardpoint and Bank Machine, Cardtronic’s existing UK subsidiary – acquired in 2005 – being rebranded as Cardtronics Europe.
For consumers the Bank Machine, Cashzone and Cardpoint brands will remain intact.
Steve Rathgaber, Cardtronics chief executive officer, said: "With this transformative acquisition of the Cashzone and Cardpoint ATM estates, Cardtronics establishes the foundation upon which to build a Cardtronics Europe scale business to complement our North American operations."
Bank Machine and Cashzone operate a network of 4,300 and 7,100 cash machines in the UK while Cardpoint operates a network of 800 cash machines across Germany.
Cardtronics now operates a global network of 80,100 ATMs, with machines in the United States, United Kingdom, Mexico, Canada and Germany.
Jonathan Simpson-Dent, Cardtronics Europe managing director, said: "As managing director of Cardtronics Europe, I am excited to be inheriting the proven sales engine from Cashzone and Cardpoint, the leading operational platform of Bank Machine and the financial stability and backing that comes with global ATM services provider Cardtronics."
